The Amazon Alexa app has received a major update to improve smart home management and streamline the user experience. With these improvements, the app focuses on personalization and quick access to frequently used devices and features. Here are the main improvements that come with this update:

- Home Page Highlights: Users will have quick access to their most used devices and features, such as shopping lists, to-do lists and recently played music.
- Home Shortcuts: A Shortcut Bar has been added that categorizes devices and showcases popular Alexa features. Users will be able to customize this rotating carousel according to their personal preferences. The bar will also provide real-time status updates for devices.
- What’s New in the Activity Section: The Events section has been redesigned to present time-sensitive information in a more organized manner.
- Special View for Ring Protect Subscribers: Ring Protect subscribers will be able to view six frames from connected Ring cameras directly from the Highlights section under Home.

- Improved Chat Interface: Users will be able to use a single interface for voice and text communication with Alexa. The chat interface can be accessed by tapping the blue chat indicator on any page of the app.
- Advanced Device Management: The device page now offers advanced filtering by device type, newest, oldest or alphabetical sorting options, and the ability to search for devices by name or keywords. Users will be able to switch between List View and Map View to get an overview of their connected devices in the home.
- Map View: Currently only available in preview for select customers in the US, Map View allows users to create a digital floor plan of their home using a compatible iOS device. Connected devices can be placed on this floor plan, providing a visual representation of the smart home setup.
With these updates, the Alexa app aims to give users easier access to their favorite features, seamlessly control their devices, and manage their smart home more effectively. The updated app is currently available for iOS and Android devices.
