iOS 17 Will Bring Surprising Changes to iPhone Users

As the September Apple event approaches, curiosity regarding the new features that iOS 17 will bring to iPhone consumers grows. The placement of the “End Call” button within the phone app, according to leaks from the beta version of iOS 17, is a big change that may take some getting used to.

A Significant Change in iPhone Call Handling

During phone calls, the “End Call” button has traditionally been placed at the bottom center of the screen, providing a unique spot for ending talks. However, iOS 17 makes a significant change to this configuration by relocating the “End Call” button slightly to the right. The button will now be located in the lower right corner of the screen, with other call-related options.

Getting Used to Change

While this change may appear insignificant, it could have a significant impact on iPhone users who are used to ending calls by tapping the center of the screen. Given the history of the “End Call” button’s positioning, the muscle memory associated with tapping the center may take some time to adapt. The change underlines Apple’s continued attempts to improve user experience and interface design, particularly as phone screen sizes change.

Previous Button Repositioning

Apple has a history of changing button positions as user interfaces evolve. For example, the Safari browser was redesigned in the beta version of iOS 15 in 2021, with the URL bar shifted to the bottom of the screen for improved accessibility and ease of use. While Apple has not formally commented on the improvements in the iOS 17 beta, the move demonstrates the company’s commitment to improving interface design for the greatest user experience possible.
