Apple Pay is more secure: Meet virtual cards!

Virtual card numbers are generated independently of your Apple Cash balance and a separate number is used for each transaction.

Apple has added virtual card support to Apple Cash in the iOS 17.4 beta. This new feature allows Apple Cash users to use single-use virtual card numbers for online purchases and in stores with Apple Pay.

Virtual card numbers are generated independently of your Apple Cash balance and a separate number is used for each transaction. This reduces the risk of your real card number being stolen or compromised and gives you more control over your spending.

Virtual card numbers can be easily created and managed in the Apple Wallet app. To create a virtual card, open the Apple Wallet app, click on your Apple Cash card and select “Create Virtual Card”.

Virtual card numbers are protected by Apple’s advanced security technologies. Each virtual card number is generated with a CVV and expiration date, and this information can only be used once.
