Google Axes 28 Over Israeli Contract Rejection!

The Convention contains strict provisions requiring companies not to bow to boycott pressure.

Google fired employees who protested against the “Project Nimbus” cloud contract with the Israeli government. Moreover, the internal tension and protests were against the company’s security policies. Here’s what unfolded behind the scenes.

Those employees of the tech firm who were opposed to the cloud computing deal that the company had with the Israeli government were not tolerated.Consequently, the company fired 28 employees who organized protests at its offices in New York and Sunnyvale. This incident considered a violation of security policies within the company.

‘Project Nimbus’ at the center of protests

Furthermore, the protests centered around the $1.2 billion “Project Nimbus” cloud computing contract that Google and Amazon signed with the Israeli government and military three years ago. Furthermore, the contract contains strict clauses requiring the companies not to bow to boycott pressure. Consequently, they obligated to continue providing services to Israel regardless of the circumstances.

Additionally, Chris Rackow, Google’s vice president of global security, emphasized that the company will not tolerate such incidents and will take decisive action against behavior that violates policies. “If you are one of the few who are considering engaging in behavior that violates our policies, think again,” Rackow warned in a letter to employees. To conclude, this stance underscores the company’s commitment to maintaining a secure and compliant work environment.
