NBC is gearing up for comprehensive coverage of the Paris 2024 Olympics, incorporating advanced technology and new features to enhance viewer experience.

The Paris 2024 Olympics are set to kick off with the opening ceremony on July 26th and run through August 11th. NBC will provide extensive live coverage of the events on its main channel, with live morning and afternoon segments featuring sports like swimming and gymnastics, followed by a three-hour primetime recap. Additionally, Peacock will offer livestreams of every sport and event, as well as full event replays.

Peacock’s Multiview System

Peacock’s Olympics Hub

One of the highlights of NBC’s coverage is the dedicated Olympics hub on Peacock, which includes:

  • Live Event Spotlight: Featuring major events happening live.
  • Interactive Schedule: Allowing users to browse by sport and star athlete.
  • Medal Standings: Providing up-to-date counts of medals won by competitors.

AI-Generated Recaps

A standout feature for 2024 is “Your Daily Olympic Recap,” which offers personalized daily recaps narrated by an AI-generated version of legendary sportscaster Al Michaels’ voice. This AI integration aims to provide viewers with a unique and engaging way to stay updated on Olympic events.

Interactive Viewing with Peacock Live Actions

Peacock Live Actions is a new interactive tool that allows fans to choose their own viewing journey during live and primetime coverage. For example, during the “Gold Zone” whiparound show, viewers can select a specific live feed to watch continuously instead of following the program’s default transitions.

Multiview Options

To cater to viewers who want to watch multiple events simultaneously, Peacock will feature two types of multiview options:

  • Peacock Discovery Multiview: Includes onscreen information about competitors, such as their stakes in the competition or their status as first-time Olympians.
  • Traditional Multiview: Available for specific sports like soccer, track and field, and wrestling, allowing viewers to watch up to four events at once.

These features are designed to provide a richer, more flexible viewing experience, enabling fans to customize their Olympics coverage according to their preferences.
