Why Bill Gates Is Buying US Farmland

Why Bill Gates Is Buying US Farmland

Conspiracy after scientists warned in April that the world was at risk of a food shortage because of Russia’s invasion of Ukraine. Therefore, conspiracy theorists alleged last year that the founder of Microsoft was buying up farmland in the United States to starve Americans for some unexplained reason.

Why was Bill Gates buying so much farmland all of a sudden? That question was finally explained by the man, himself. “I own less than 1/4000 of the farmland in the US. I have invested in these farms to make them more productive and create more jobs. There isn’t some grand scheme involved – in fact, all these decisions are made by a professional investment team,” he commented. An increasing number of ordinary investors are gaining access to the real estate market with as little as $100 through firms supported by well-known investors like Jeff Bezos, while Gates has spent billions improving agricultural estates to make them more productive.
