Tesla Roadster Production Will Begin in 2023

Elon Musk just announced that the second generation Tesla Roadster, an all-electric sports car, will go into production next year.

Elon Musk, CEO of Tesla, delivered significant statements at the company’s annual shareholder meeting in Texas. According to Musk, the second-generation all-electric Tesla Roadster will go into production next year.

Previously, the Roadster was scheduled to debut in 2020. The Roadster’s release date has been pushed back multiple times due to the priority of other Tesla vehicles, such as the high-priced Model 3 and Model Y.

Musk addressed the Roadster’s delivery date while answering shareholder questions, stating that the business intends to complete the Roadster’s engineering and design in 2023. Musk also called the Roadster “one of their most important vehicles to date,” and said production might begin next year. However, Musk claimed that the Roadster will not contribute significantly to Tesla’s revenue but may contribute modestly to profitability.

Tesla’s first electric vehicle, the first generation Tesla Roadster, was introduced in 2006 and went into production in 2008. Despite the expensive price, around 2,400 units were sold. During Tesla’s Tesla Semi event in November 2017, the second generation Tesla Roadster was unveiled. Tesla also offered those in attendance a $50,000 discount that could be used as a deposit on the Roadster, which several people accepted.
