Tom Morello and Zack de la Rocha of Rage Against the Machine are boycotting US music venues that utilize face-scanning technology. The boycott was coordinated by the digital rights advocacy organization Fight for the Future, which is seeking for a ban on face-scanning technology at all live events in the country.
Leila Nashashibi of Fight for the Future slammed surveillance tech corporations for portraying biometric data technologies as both creative and ethically reprehensible. After Madison Square Garden began employing face recognition technology to identify lawyers working for businesses suing them, the campaign was launched in 2022.
