Attention photographers: Capture One is shutting down its free version!

After January 30, the Express version will not be available for download from the website and existing license keys will be invalid.

Capture One has announced that it will discontinue the free Express version of its popular photo editing software suite as of January 30. With this change, the software will become fully paid and users will be able to choose from several Pro versions. The company said that discontinuing the free version will “allow us to focus on our core products”.

After January 30, the Express version will no longer be available for download from the website and existing license keys will be invalid. Users will need to complete their transactions by that date to avoid losing their existing images and edits. It will be possible to quickly upgrade from Express to Pro.

Prices for the Pro versions range from $24 to $34 per month, depending on whether the package includes a desktop client or a smartphone app. It is also possible to buy the desktop client for $300, but this does not include updates and access to the smartphone app. A free 30-day trial is also available for those on the fence.

Capture One software has become an essential tool for digital photographers. Compatible with more than 500 camera models, it allows you to take photos with an externally connected camera directly into desktop software or an app. The software also handles raw conversion, color processing and general editing tasks.
