Kyivstar, Ukraine’s largest mobile network operator, announced tuesday morning that it was the victim of a massive hacking attack that temporarily knocked out its cellular and internet service.
The company, which is owned by Amsterdam-listed mobile telecoms operator Veon, stated that it was attempting to restore service and was cooperating with law authorities.
Separately, the co-founder of Monobank, a large Ukrainian payment system, stated on social media that his organization is currently under DDoS attack, but that everything is “under control“.
“The most important thing is that users’ personal data has not been compromised,” Kyivstar said in a statement, pledging to reimburse clients for the interruption of service access.
Kyivstar did not immediately say who it suspected was at blame.
