Amazon has become the latest major technology company to go all-in on artificial intelligence (AI). The business has announced the availability of new AI language models via its Amazon Web Services AWS cloud platform. Enterprises are targeted to benefit from a wide range of tools to assist their businesses in developing their own chatbots and image-generation services powered by artificial intelligence. Following the popularity of ChatGPT and Google’s effort into generative AI Bard, the move is part of a larger AI competition.
The Amazon Bedrock offering, similar to OpenAI’s ChatGPT chatbot, will allow clients to augment their software with AI systems that generate text. According to Swami Sivasubramanian, AWS’s vice president of Data and Machine Learning, Amazon’s objective is to enable developers of all skill levels and businesses of all sizes to create with generative AI. He stated that this is only the start of what the business expects will be the next wave of machine learning.
Amazon CodeWhisperer, which was originally launched for preview last year, is now generally available and includes a CodeWhisperer individual tier which is free to use for developers. The companion allows developers to stay in their integrated development environments IDEs when they need to research something. Amazon CodeWhisperer generates code suggestions for popular scripts like Python, Java, JavaScript, TypeScript, and C.
