In order to grow its radiography business, Bayer has decided to buy Blackford Analysis Ltd, a British company that creates clinical application (ClinApp) ecosystem-focused artificial intelligence (AI) technologies. For CT, X-Ray, and magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) systems, Bayer offers a broad selection of solutions. Sales for Bayer’s radiology division totaled €1.8 billion in 2021.
Adding AI to The Portfolio
According to Stefan Oelrich, Member of the Board of Management at Bayer AG and President of Bayer’s Pharmaceutical Division, “Adding Blackford and its AI technology to our radiology portfolio secures Bayer an excellent position in the fastest growing segment within the overall global radiology industry.” The deal is expected to conclude later this year. Blackford was one of the companies chosen for their start-up status by Bayer’s G4A Digital Health Partnerships Program. Founded in 2010, Blackford’s financial backers include Archangel Investors, TRI Cap, Scottish Enterprise, and Old College Capital.
