Chrome Gets a Material You Makeover
Google Chrome, one of the most widely used browsers, is set to undergo a visual transformation in the coming weeks. The update will incorporate Google’s Material You design language, featuring refreshed icons with an emphasis on legibility and new color palettes that better complement tabs and toolbars.
New Rounded Corners and Fresh Look
One of the most noticeable changes is the introduction of rounded corners, adding a sleeker, more contemporary look to the browser’s design. These rounded corners are particularly evident near the top of the window, creating a more aesthetically pleasing visual.
Material You Design for Chrome Web Store
The Chrome Web Store is also receiving a makeover, embracing the Material You design philosophy. This update includes rounded corners and other design elements. The changes to the Chrome Web Store are already available in public preview and have been met with positive feedback for their improved aesthetics.
Enhanced Safe Browsing Tools
In addition to the visual updates, Google is enhancing its Safe Browsing tools in Chrome to improve user security. Instead of checking potentially dangerous sites against a locally stored list updated every 30 to 60 minutes, Chrome will now check sites against Google’s real-time list of malicious sites. This change aims to prevent users from accessing newly created malicious sites promptly. It is expected to offer 25 percent improved protection against malware and phishing threats.
These updates aim to provide Chrome users with a more visually appealing and secure browsing experience.
