Dang Wenshuan from Huawei: Automated Networks Level 4 Will Increase Business Value and Now is the Time to Start

During the Digital Transformation World (DTW) 2024 event, Chief Strategy Architect of Huawei Dang Wenshuan attended the Automated Networking Industry Summit, organized by TM Forum and China Mobile. In his keynote speech titled “Starting AN L4 for Greater Value,” Dang highlighted the significant benefits of advancing from Automated Networks (AN) Level 3 to Level 4.

Evolution to AN Level 4

Dang emphasized that the transition to AN Level 4 represents a critical phase in the industry, promising substantial business value by enhancing employee capabilities and improving customer satisfaction. He noted that core technologies like telecom core models and digital twins are now sufficiently developed to support this advancement. Therefore, Dang recommended that global communications service providers (CSPs) in both developed and emerging markets adopt a strategy of implementing AN Level 4.

Key Principles and Strategy

At the summit, Dang outlined Huawei’s main strategy for developing AN Level 4, based on a reference architecture and practical application examples. He introduced three key principles for the architecture:

  1. Value-Driven: Focusing on creating measurable business value.
  2. Crystallization: Simplifying complex processes.
  3. Productization: Transforming innovations into market-ready products.

These principles complement the “single domain autonomy and cross-domain collaboration” principles established by the TM Forum. Huawei’s automated driving network (ADN) solution provides two types of intelligent products and professional services:

  • Scenario-Specific AI Agents: These agents automate operations and continuously optimize performance based on predefined scenarios.
  • Role-Specific Co-Pilot Applications: These applications empower workers by offering digital assistant functionalities on mobile devices and PCs.

Practical Applications and Results

Dang shared the success of Huawei’s previous solutions in collaboration with CSPs. For example, in partnership with China Mobile Guangdong, Huawei’s AI agents and companion pilot applications significantly reduced troubleshooting times on mobile carrier networks from 120 minutes to just 20 minutes.

Future Outlook

The release ceremony of the Autonomous Networks Level 4 industry plan marked a milestone in the industry’s journey towards higher levels of automation. Huawei’s commitment to advancing AN technology underscores its potential to revolutionize the telecom industry, delivering enhanced operational efficiency and superior customer experiences.
