GoPro’s new Hero 12 Black camera and additional accessories will give users a better video and photo-taking experience.
GoPro introduced its highly anticipated new action camera GoPro Hero 12 Black. The new camera stands out with its longer usage time. This new model will allow users to shoot longer and produce creative content.
Redesigned power management system for extended use
GoPro claims that these longer runtimes are made possible by a redesigned power management system. With this new system, runtimes have improved by up to 2% compared to the previous generation Hero 11 Black. However, this performance is achieved when using the Enduro battery supplied with the GoPro Hero 12. Different runtimes can be achieved when using the standard GoPro battery.
Support for vertical video mode and wireless audio devices
The GoPro Hero 12 Black offers a new 9:16 vertical capture mode for those who want to shoot videos on platforms like TikTok and YouTube Shorts. It also supports Bluetooth wireless audio devices and microphones, such as AirPods, which is a big advantage for content creators who want to create vertical videos more easily.
Features for professional users
For professional users, the Hero 12 Black offers the ability to shoot HDR photos and videos in 5.3K (up to 30fps at 16:9 aspect ratio) and 4K (up to 30fps at 8:7 aspect ratio and 60fps at 16:9 aspect ratio). GP-Log encoding has also been added, allowing for a wider dynamic range. There’s also the ability to use timecode synchronization on an ‘unlimited number’ of Hero 12 Black cameras, making it easier to capture and edit footage from multiple angles.

Wide viewing angle and lens mode
Hero 12 Black offers the ability to record at 4K / 60fps at a 177-degree angle of view thanks to the new Max Lens Mod 2.0 accessory. This larger lens gives you a 36% wider angle of view for widescreen video and a 48% higher angle of view for vertical video. However, if you want to use this lens, you need to buy it separately.
Price and availability
The GoPro Hero 12 Black will be available at a price of $399.99 and will begin pre-ordering on Wednesday. The Max Lens Mod 2.0 will also be available on Wednesday, priced at $99.99 ($79.99 if you’re a GoPro subscriber). The products will be available in stores on September 13. There will also be a “Creative Edition” available for $599.99. This version includes a grip, a media mode attachment and a microphone and LED light attachment.
GoPro Quik app update
GoPro has also updated the GoPro Quik app for GoPro subscribers. You can now edit your videos directly from the cloud, eliminating the need to download videos to your device.
GoPro’s new Hero 12 Black camera and additional accessories look set to help users have a better video and photo-taking experience. These new features open up a range of possibilities for content creators and adventure lovers.
