Meta is expected to roll out account deletion by December.
Meta is preparing to roll out a separate account deletion feature for Threads, the text-based social network it launched in July.
The company had faced criticism for not having a way for users to delete their Threads accounts without deleting their Instagram accounts.
Michel Protti, Meta’s chief product privacy officer, said the company initially put a lot of thought into how to handle deletion requests, noting at launch that it was technically difficult to separate the two accounts.
How to delete Threads account?
At the moment, it is not possible to close the Threads account without deleting the linked Instagram account. However, Meta is expected to release the account deletion feature by December.

You will not be able to log in to Instagram.
The number of active users is not what Meta hoped for
Threads was launched with high hopes as Instagram’s new social networking initiative. However, the company has struggled to grow the popularity of the platform. Meta is trying to make it easier for users to leave the platform by rolling out a separate account deletion feature for Threads. It remains to be seen whether this feature will help increase the popularity of Threads. However, it can be seen as part of Meta’s efforts to make the platform more attractive.
