iPhone Designer Jony Ive and Sam Altman Join Forces for a New Collaborative Project!

Apple’s product design chief, Tang Tan, one of the leading names in the technology world, is leaving the company to work on artificial intelligence hardware with Jony Ive and Sam Altman. Tan, who was responsible for the design of Apple’s main products including iPhone, Watch, and AirPods, is considered a significant loss for Apple. He will serve as a hardware design leader at LoveFrom design firm and will participate in this new AI project with the software support of Altman. Currently, the project’s products are in the early concept stage, focusing on devices for home use.

It was known that Tang would be leaving Apple, but where he was heading was not disclosed. Jony Ive’s successor, Evans Hankey, left the company after only a few years in the role. Since 2019, about 14 members of Ive’s former team have left Apple, leaving only six or seven people. Ive worked as a consultant for Apple until 2022, and more than 20 former Apple employees have joined him at his LoveFrom company.

Sam Altman was briefly fired from his role at OpenAI and then rehired. One reason for this was his fundraising efforts for other endeavors, including creating AI hardware with Ive, supported by Softbank.

This development is seen as a significant shift in the technology and design world. The move of Tang Tan, who has made significant contributions to Apple’s designs over many years, to work on AI hardware with industry leaders like Jony Ive and Sam Altman, generates high expectations for innovations in this field. Especially his departure from a tech giant like Apple to work on such a project could offer new opportunities and challenges for other companies and designers in the industry.
