Qualcomm has announced a new mid-range chipset called Snapdragon 7s Gen 2. The chipset is manufactured with a 4nm manufacturing process and utilizes Qualcomm’s Kryo CPU and Adreno GPU. It also supports Qualcomm Quick Charge 4+ technology.
The chipset features Qualcomm AI Engine, allowing users to take clear photos and 4K HDR videos. Night shots are also improved thanks to Qualcomm Low Light technology.
Snapdragon 7s Gen 2 has four performance cores running at 2.4GHz and four efficiency cores running at 1.95GHz. It also supports FHD+ displays with 144Hz refresh rate, 16MP triple camera with 30fps, 48MP (or 64MP binned) single camera with 30fps, and 200MP still photography.
Qualcomm’s new chipset features the Snapdragon X62 5G modem with 5G mmWave and sub-6GHz, standalone and non-dependent modes, FDD and TDD (2.9Gbps maximum download speed).
Other key features of the Snapdragon 7s Gen 2 chipset include HDR gaming (10-bit color depth), support for OpenGL ES 3.2, OpenCL 2.0 FP and Vulkan 1.3, all the typical connectivity features such as GPS, Glonass, BeiDou, Galileo, NavIC and QZSS.
Finally, Qualcomm Snapdragon 7s Gen 2 features LP-DDR5 memory up to 3200 MHz, LP-DDR4X memory up to 2133 MHz and UFS 4.0 storage support.
Qualcomm did not provide information about the availability of the chipset in its official announcement. However, we expect the first devices with the Snapdragon 7s Gen 2 chipset to hit the market by the end of the year.
