Samsung launches ‘self repair’ program in Europe

To help users, Samsung will also offer a dedicated support page with videos on how to make repairs.

Samsung has announced the availability of its self-service repair program in the United Kingdom and other European countries. The program will give participants access to the equipment and parts required to repair compatible devices including as the Galaxy S20, S21, and S22 series smartphones, as well as the Galaxy Book Pro and Galaxy Book Pro 360 laptops.

Samsung introduced the initiative in the United States in collaboration with iFixit. Repair kits will be sold and distributed throughout Europe by parts distributors ASWO and 2Service. The initiative is already in place in some parts of Europe and will be available in other countries, including the United Kingdom, by the end of June. Galaxy S20, S21, and S22 owners will be able to replace their phone’s screen, back glass, and charging port. The front case, back case, screen, battery, touch pad, power button with fingerprint reader, and rubber feet will all be repairable for Galaxy Book Pro customers.

Samsung will also provide a dedicated support page with videos and other support resources on how to do these repairs to assist users. Samsung’s ‘repair it yourself’ service is an important step toward extending device life and allowing people to enjoy the performance of their Galaxy smartphones for as long as feasible. Samsung hopes that by expanding this program throughout Europe, it will be able to provide its people with a more sustainable technological experience and boost the repairability of its devices.

The introduction of Samsung’s self-service repair program to Europe may encourage consumers to keep their devices for longer periods of time while also lowering costs. For many people, repairing their own gadgets rather than going to a service center for basic repairs can save time and money.
