Threads, a microblogging software from Meta Platforms, will be released just days after Twitter executive chair Elon Musk placed a temporary limit on how many posts users may view on the social networking platform.
Threads, Instagram’s text-based chat app, is set to launch on Thursday and will allow users to follow the accounts they follow on the photo-sharing site while maintaining the same username, according to a listing in Apple’s App Store.
The app’s launch comes after Twitter imposed a slew of restrictions, including the requirement to be verified in order to use TweetDeck.
Musk’s latest pledges to address data scraping have provoked a heated outcry from Twitter users, and ad experts have warned that it may damage new CEO Linda Yaccarino, who took over last month.
