Uber is looking at adding a new TaskRabbit-like business dubbed “Chore” to its iPhone app. Developer Steve Moser discovered code buried within the app for a service called “Chore,” which allows users to hire “taskers” and define the jobs they want assistance with, the anticipated time it will take, and the time the tasker should come. Before submitting a request, users can include the tasker’s address. Uber will calculate a payment based on the time necessary to accomplish the activity, with a one-hour minimum. Chore may not be made public, but it would be a major project for Uber, which is best known for its ride-hailing and meal delivery services.
