Vietnam’s President To Lam to Meet Google and Meta Executives in U.S.

Vietnam’s top leader, To Lam, is set to meet with major U.S. tech companies, including Google and Meta, next week in the United States as part of a series of meetings aimed at strengthening economic ties and cooperation.

Key Meeting with Tech Giants Google and Meta

Vietnam’s President and Communist Party Chief, To Lam, will visit the U.S. for the first time since taking office, where he is expected to meet key representatives from Google and Meta, two major tech companies with significant interests in the Vietnamese market. Meta’s Facebook holds one of the largest user bases in Vietnam, while Google manufactures smartphones in the country and plans to expand with a new data center.

Attending U.S. Business Forum

Lam will also participate in a business forum on September 23, where representatives from other U.S. businesses will join him. This forum, organized by the US-ASEAN Business Council, will feature major corporations that have been actively expanding their footprint in Vietnam, including companies from the energy and defense sectors.

Strengthening U.S.-Vietnam Relations

Lam’s trip comes at a time when the U.S. and Vietnam are deepening their diplomatic and economic ties. Washington views Vietnam as a strategic partner, particularly in manufacturing and high-tech sectors. Vietnam, for its part, is looking to boost foreign investment and strengthen its economic relationships with global powers, including the U.S.

A Packed Itinerary

In addition to his meetings with U.S. tech leaders, Lam is expected to address the United Nations General Assembly and meet other global leaders. While it is unclear whether he will meet U.S. President Joe Biden, his visit marks an important step in solidifying Vietnam’s global diplomatic presence.

What’s Next for Vietnam’s Growing Tech Industry?

The meetings between To Lam and top U.S. corporations will likely influence Vietnam’s future in the global technology landscape. With key investments in data centers and digital infrastructure, Vietnam is becoming an important player in the world of technology and manufacturing.
