Xiaomi Starts EV Revolution With Stylish and Innovative SU7 Series!

Xiaomi aims to offer a smart ecosystem with the SU7 and SU7 Pro models, focusing on the guiding principle of “Human X Car X Home”.

After offering a wide range of products from smartphones to home products, China-based technology giant Xiaomi is now stepping into the electric vehicle market. The company is preparing to introduce its first electric vehicle in China, the Xiaomi SU7 series.

SU7

SU7 and SU7 Max

Xiaomi is working on SU7 and SU7 Max electric vehicles. These vehicles will be produced in cooperation with Beijing-based BAIC Group. Although the SU7 and SU7 Max have similar features, they have significant differences such as different battery technologies and maximum speed. While the SU7 has a top speed of 210 km/h, the SU7 Max has a top speed of 265 km/h.

Technical specifications

The curb weight of the Xiaomi SU7 is 1,980 kg, while the curb weight of the SU7 Max is 2,205 kg. The dimensions of the SU7 are 4,997 x 1,963 x 1,455 mm (1,440 mm without LiDAR sensor). The vehicle will offer two different engine powertrains: a 220 kW RWD engine and a 275 kW + 220 kW AWD engine combination. The wheelbase is 3,000 mm.

The vehicle engine is manufactured by United Automotive Electronic Systems (UAES), while the LPT – Lithium iron phosphate batteries are produced by FinDreams, a subsidiary of BYD.

Xiaomi also announced the SU7 Pro variant. However, detailed technical specifications for this model have not yet been announced.

Xiaomi’s smart ecosystem vision: HyperOS

With the SU7 and SU7 Pro models, Xiaomi aims to offer a smart ecosystem by focusing on the guiding principle of “Human X Car X Home”. As part of this vision, Xiaomi has developed a human-oriented operating system called HyperOS. HyperOS aims to provide an integrated experience by combining personal devices, vehicles and smart home products.

Although reports do not confirm that the Xiaomi SU7 will come with HyperOS, Xiaomi’s vision of a unified ecosystem points in this direction. HyperOS, unlike the operating system Xiaomi uses on smartphones, consists of two main categories, “HyperOS Mobile” and “HyperOS IoT”.

We can state that the maximum expected price for the models of this series is around 300,000 Yuan. This implies a price range that is expected to be less than 40,000 Euros and around 40,000 dollars. According to another source, the starting price is expected to be around 149,000 Yuan, which equates to around $20,500. However, some sources suggest that the vehicle could be purchased in China for over $41,000. Therefore, it is difficult to specify a clear price range for the time being.

With this new step by Xiaomi, we are eagerly waiting to see how a smartphone-focused vehicle experience will be.
