Dave Limp, a former senior executive at Amazon, has suggested that the company may charge a subscription fee for the use of its popular voice assistant Alexa in the future. In an interview, Limp cited the high cost of training and running advanced artificial intelligence models.
Alexa usage may be paid in the new period
According to this statement, the current free version of Amazon will be maintained, but it is thought that a future version may be offered on a subscription basis if it has more advanced features and usefulness.
Amazon is on its way to becoming an important player in the sector by making major investments in artificial intelligence. It recently introduced a new AI-powered Alexa version and updated Echo Frames and Carrera smart glasses. It also invested up to 4 billion dollars in Anthropic, a competitor to OpenAI.
