Apple is reportedly in talks with potential manufacturing partners in Europe about its updated strategy.
Apple has made a significant change in automotive project it launched a decade ago. According to Bloomberg, the company is reportedly abandoning plans for a fully autonomous vehicle and focusing on developing an electric vehicle similar to Tesla’s vehicle. The “Apple Car” is expected to be launched in 2028 at the earliest, two years after the company’s last reported target date.

Change in autonomic characteristics
Automation features of Apple’s car project have been reduced from a fully automated Level 5 system to Level 4 with full automation in certain situations, and then to partial automation Level 2+ with limited automated driving. This requires full driver attention while offering limited automated driving features.
Entry similar to the Tesla model
Apple once envisioned a vehicle without a steering wheel and pedals, but the current iteration of the project looks more like the Tesla vehicle. Internally, the company is reportedly evaluating whether the project can succeed in its simplified form. According to Bloomberg, the company still intends to offer a Level 4 autonomous system in the future, but emphasizes that beginning will be at a more realistic level.
