Microsoft says that Mesh can strengthen the connectivity of remote workers through virtual meeting spaces.
Microsoft introduced Mesh, a Metaverse solution designed specifically for the workplace. Going beyond Teams video calls, it gives employees the ability to interact in a variety of three-dimensional environments using virtual reality headsets or standard PCs. The platform offers a wide range of uses, from internal events, social gatherings and sessions to employee onboarding.
Mesh virtual meeting spaces
Microsoft says it offers virtual meeting spaces that can help remote workers feel more connected. Mesh meetings give employees a sense of togetherness, even when they are physically separated. Features such as spatial audio further enrich this experience, providing an interactive environment for participants.
Various access paths and customization
Accessing Mesh spaces is quite flexible. One way is through an option in the View menu of Microsoft Teams, and the other is through a standalone app available in the Microsoft Store and scheduled to be added to the Meta Quest Store soon. Companies can easily customize 3D environments by adding custom elements such as company logos to Mesh spaces.
Compatible with Meta Quest and other titles
It has been made compatible with Meta’s Quest titles for those who want to deliver a fully immersive experience. Microsoft says this compatibility allows users to further enhance the virtual meeting experience. No word yet on whether it will be compatible with Apple Vision Pro.
The communication tool of the future?
It’s unclear how widely it will be adopted among business users. According to experts, it might have had a chance for faster adoption if it had been launched in 2020, with the rise of remote working during the COVID-19 pandemic. However, with mobile working conditions on the rise, the resurgence of demand for business travel could make the adoption process of this platform slower.
