Elon Musk has announced that X, formerly Twitter, will soon add a calling feature that will allow users to call each other without sharing their phone numbers.
X (formerly Twitter), the social media platform run by Elon Musk, will allow users to communicate without sharing their phone numbers. In a recent blog post, the company announced that video and voice calls are coming to X users, including iOS, Android and desktop users.
The official tweet sharing the announcement on the platform reads, “Video and voice calls coming to X: works on iOS, Android, Mac and PC, no phone number needed, X is effectively a global address book. This combination of factors is unique.”
According to the report, the new features are planned to be presented in the Direct Message (DM) menu. There will also be a video search option in the top right corner. The design of the new DM menu will be inspired by other platforms such as Facebook Messenger and WhatsApp. Earlier, CEO Linda Yaccarino confirmed this news in an interview with CNBC. She stated that the new features aim to “boost” communication on the platform and give users “more ways to connect with each other”.
Andrea Conway, design engineer at X, shared a picture of the new DM menu on Twitter. This image shows the video search option. The option is located in the top right corner of the menu next to the existing options for sending text messages, photos and videos.
The new voice and video calling features are expected to roll out to all users in the coming weeks.
In particular, it is important to note that the new feature is aimed at improving communication on the platform. At the same time, this feature is seen as a strong response to rival Meta. Because the Meta platform already allows calls between different platforms such as Messenger, WhatsApp and Instagram.
Elon Musk will turn X into a single platform!
Elon Musk has shared his plans to turn X into a single platform for users. The Tesla CEO has often said that he wants to make it possible for people to subscribe to their favorite creators, watch videos, express themselves in long-form posts, send payments and even store money.
To achieve these goals, Musk has already taken some steps. For example, Twitter has recently started sharing revenue with creators and now supports two-hour videos. In addition to these changes, Musk also introduced a new professional networking feature called “Recruitments”. This feature aims to simplify the hiring process, similar to LinkedIn. In addition, it offers a verified space for job seekers and employers. The X Recruitments feature is planned to be available only for verified organizations. This means they must be verified by Twitter. This will help ensure that job seekers have a safe and reliable place to find work.
Job postings will come to the organization’s profile. It will then be possible to search by keyword, location and other criteria. Candidates will be able to apply for jobs directly on Twitter. It will also be possible for employers to contact candidates through the platform.
