WhatsApp Quick Share enables faster and more convenient file sharing between Android phones and Windows and Chrome OS computers.
WhatsApp is working on a new feature that will make it easier for users to share files with nearby contacts. The latest beta version of WhatsApp on Android (2.24.2.17) introduces this feature, which allows file transfers via Bluetooth.
Developed by Google and Samsung and called Quick Share, the new feature enables faster and more convenient file sharing between Android phones and Windows and Chrome OS computers. Compared to traditional file transfer methods, this feature will allow users to exchange up to 2 GB of files over chat or without using cloud storage.
According to WABetaInfo, for users to transfer files, both parties will need to be in the app’s “People Nearby” region and remain there during the transfer. File sharing will be secured with end-to-end encryption at WhatsApp’s default encryption level.
An interesting detail is that users have to shake their phones to initiate file sharing. This feature makes the user experience more interactive.
End-to-end encryption enhances the security of file transfer, protecting the confidentiality of phone numbers from those who are not on the contact list at the time of transfer. This makes file sharing more secure, giving users additional assurance that their data is protected.
