Enhancing Email Composition with Duet AI
Google has introduced updates to its AI-powered companion, Duet AI, at the Google Cloud Next ’23 event. Available to Workspace users, Duet AI now offers assistance across various tasks, including drafting and customizing emails in Gmail.
Drafting Personalized Emails with Ease
The enhanced Gmail feature allows users to create longer, more personalized emails with a simple tap, building on the existing smart reply function. Duet AI can draft emails using the user’s own words by understanding the context from previous email threads, ensuring relevant responses for ongoing conversations.
Users can also use Duet AI to adjust the tone of their email, making it sound more formal or adding more detail as needed. Conversely, they can shorten the email for brevity.
Additionally, Google has included a feature called “I’m feeling Lucky,” which offers fun variations on tone and style for drafted email content.
Expanding AI-Powered Assistance to Google Docs
Google plans to bring a similar “Help me write” feature to Docs, allowing users to change content tone, summarize sections, add bullets, elaborate or shorten text, request a different generated draft, and more. Custom instructions for content refinement can also be provided by users.
These updates aim to improve user productivity and make email and document composition easier for Workspace users.
