Google has gotten better and better at designing, manufacturing and selling in-house mobile devices over the past few years. But it’s a different story when it comes to keeping unreleased Pixel phones a secret. The search giant still doesn’t do a very good job of that. Maybe it doesn’t want to.
Because Google’s Pixel phones have been some of the most leaked phones ever. Google even took control and leaked a picture of the Pro model on its official website (!).
Are we sure this isn’t the Pixel 7 Pro?

Google’s next big thing will look a lot like its 6.7-inch predecessor. Yet two important details, clearly visible in the teaser image below, make us 100 percent confident that we’re really looking at a Pixel 8 Pro here.
First and foremost, the camera system on the back. It crams three (not-so-mysterious) sensors into a large pill-shaped space. Instead of being split into two separate modules, they appear to be housed together. Right next to the triple camera arrangement, there are two sensors instead of one, meaning more sensors. The top component probably serves as a traditional LED flash. But the little circular thing at the bottom looks like it’s going to deal with body temperature readings to stand out from Google’s current Android flagship package.
Unfortunately, the Pixel 8 Pro’s display isn’t visible in this image. But the back cover does reveal another interesting detail. Namely, it will come in the same “Porcelain” color tone as the Pixel Fold. Note that this color option is similar but not exactly the same as the Pixel 7 Pro’s “Snow” color.
Also, you might still doubt that this was officially uploaded (probably by mistake) on the Google Store webpage. However, the search giant left no trace of mystery with a text it shared. “A person is making a call on a Porcelain-colored Pixel 8 Pro phone,” the post read.
Other color options
A Porcelain (read white) version of the upcoming Pixel 8 Pro flagship is considered almost certain. So now seems like an ideal time to return to the previous color rumors and see how things stand.
What’s more, we have a fresh speculation to discuss on this matter. This comes from one of the most reliable sources of inside information in the mobile business. According to 9To5Google, the Pixel 8 Pro will receive the “Obsidian” color in addition to the aforementioned Porcelain shade. At the same time, the Pixel 7a mid-segment model will opt for a more “vibrant” approach in the “Sea” (i.e. blue) hue.
The marketing labels of these three colors are still controversial. The names Porcelain, Liquor, and Sky were circulating some time ago. However, it is almost certain that the “Hazelnut” shade will be replaced with a more striking shade of blue compared to the Pixel 7 Pro.
No new information has leaked about the “regular” Pixel 8 color options. However, we expect the non-Pro model to come in Liquor, Pink and Mist. This is also a bit different from the Pixel 7’s Obsidian – Lemongrass – Snow trio. It’s worth noting that it looks like a potentially more beautiful array.
The Pixel 8 duo, which was rendered with their brightness at the beginning of March and leaked several times in the following months, will finally see the light of day, probably at some point in October. Then it will top our list of the “best Android phones of 2023”. Who’s excited?
