Samsung’s new smart ring Galaxy Ring draws attention with its anti-lost and security features. It offers a different approach especially from the hardware offered by its biggest competitor Oura. The most striking feature of Galaxy Ring is called “Lost Mode”. Here are the details of this feature:
- Illuminated Lost Mode: Galaxy Ring will use an integrated LED light. When Lost Mode is activated, the light inside the ring will flash continuously. This will make it easier to find the ring even in a dark room.
- Samsung Account Lockout: Lost Mode will also give users the option to lock their Samsung accounts through the app. This will prevent others from using the ring or accessing your information.
This feature could come in quite handy when you lose your smart ring. It will also set the Galaxy Ring apart as a feature not found on Oura’s competing hardware.
As noted on Oura’s support page, if you lose the Oura Ring, “Restricted Mode” will kick in when trying to pair it with a new device. Restricted Mode means that the Oura App will prompt you to return the smart ring to factory settings. Factory reset will erase the data since your last synchronization, but all data prior to your last synchronization will still be available.
