Spacetop G1: The World’s First Augmented Reality Computer

Sightful’s Spacetop G1 offers a significant innovation in the AR-powered laptop market.

Sightful, a pioneer in the world of technology, has introduced the Spacetop G1, a groundbreaking product that brings augmented reality technology to laptops. This innovative device aims to revolutionize the way users work and entertain themselves.

Design and Screen Features

The Spacetop G1 boasts a design similar to its predecessor but with enhanced display capabilities. Furthermore, the glasses offer two levels of dimming, ensuring excellent visibility in various lighting conditions, including bright sunlight. This feature enhances user experience by providing clear screens regardless of the environment.

Hardware and Performance

The new model supports Wi-Fi 7, Bluetooth 5.3, and 5G connectivity through a SIM card slot. It includes two USB-C ports and a built-in webcam. The 60-watt battery offers about eight hours of usage, a three-hour improvement over the previous model, providing longer productivity periods without frequent recharging.

User Experience and Controls

Equipped with advanced tracking systems, the Spacetop G1 ensures the mouse pointer is always visible. The touchpad supports three-finger gestures, allowing users to move virtual screens horizontally. These features provide significant advantages over competing devices, such as the Apple Vision Pro, making the user interface more intuitive and efficient.

SpaceOS and Apps

The device runs on SpaceOS, a Chromium-based operating system supporting all web-based applications. While it may not be ideal for compute-intensive tasks, it offers sufficient performance for general use. SpaceOS remembers opened browser windows, enabling users to maintain the same layout across sessions.

Travel Mode and Gesture Control

The Spacetop G1 features a Travel Mode to stabilize virtual displays during movement. This mode is particularly useful for maintaining screen positions while traveling by plane or car, enhancing the device’s portability and user experience on the go.

Price and Availability

Available now with a starting price of $1900, the Spacetop G1 is priced higher than other laptops with similar specifications. However, considering its AR technology and innovative features, it presents a competitive option. Despite concerns about price and portability, the Spacetop G1 could be an ideal choice for business professionals and frequent travelers.
