StoreDot, a pioneer in extreme fast charging (XFC) high-energy battery solutions for electric vehicles, has signed a joint development agreement with VinES, a revolutionary energy solution provider and a member of Vingroup, Vietnam’s largest private conglomerate.
Following VinFast’s previously disclosed strategic investment in StoreDot (Series D, January 2022), the agreement represents a critical step forward in both companies’ advancement of cell technology. It will also assist them in promoting innovative battery technology and preparing to deploy XFC battery solutions for the green mobility market, including VinFast’s smart electric vehicles.
As part of the agreement, both companies will collaborate to research, develop, and manufacture extreme fast charge (XFC) battery cells in a variety of form factors in order to prepare for XFC battery mass production and supply. StoreDot will license and share its proprietary XFC technology, as opposed to VinES, which will give its knowledge and experience in establishing alternative form factors, production, validation, and a global supply chain network.
When the first edition of this XFC battery cell becomes commercially accessible in 2025, VinFast vehicles are expected to begin using it.
