Xiaomi is preparing to launch its 14 series at the end of 2023 and the company has already had one of its smartphones certified by 3C. The China Compulsory Certification (CCC) has certified a phone with model number 23127PN0CC, said to be the vanilla Xiaomi 14, which is said to have 90W charging support.
The smartphone’s charger will have a power output of 90-6.1-4.5A at 5-20V with a maximum of 90W. To get there, the Xiaomi MDY-14-EC charger will be needed, but it’s not yet clear if the company will provide the adapter in the retail box.
As early as 2022, Xiaomi would ship the Xiaomi 13 with the charger. But only in China in international markets, users had to choose whether they wanted to include the charger or not, as it wasn’t in the box.
The 90W charging speed is nothing new for Xiaomi in general, but it will be a big step forward for the vanilla flagship. While the previous two versions had 67W wired charging, the 13 Pro and 12 Pro have gone up to 120W.
It remains to be seen if Xiaomi will increase the charging speed of the 14 Pro, but we think we’ll have more information on that soon.
What will Xiaomi 14’s fast charging deliver?
90W fast charging means that the Xiaomi 14 can charge its battery in a very short time. For example, a 4500mAh battery can take only about 30 minutes to charge from 0 to 100%. This means that users can use their device continuously throughout the day and charge it without worry.
Is fast charging safe?
Major manufacturers such as Xiaomi take various measures to use fast charging technologies safely. For example, devices are protected against overheating and the battery is prevented from overcharging.
