Tolga Yorulmaz, CIO of Işıksoy Tekstil, is one of the ecosystem’s pioneers on the smart manufacturing side, having embarked on an EU initiative three years ago… “The climate and energy are the most crucial issues for us,” Yorulmaz remarked. We aim to sign projects that will combine these two vital themes.”
Tolga Yorulmaz, CIO of Işıksoy Tekstil, sets out to create a European Union initiative under Horizon2020. Tolga Yorulmaz, who indicated that they intended to visit the European Union and receive full information about the project process, states in this context that they met with members of the Ministry of Industry for this successful project that has been running for three years.
“Eureka supports several technological researches, from building a motherboard to monitoring climate changes,” Yorulmaz stated, stating that the main goal of Horizon 2020 is to ensure that technology developed outside the European Union are produced in Europe. Despite the fact that we are not a part of the European Union as a country, we are members of this fund and contribute to it by paying major amounts to Eureka, yet 2% of the fund we transfer returns to Turkey. That is why, in the next stage, we began to follow the occurrences there. We presented a proposal for smartening textile machines at the IoT unit event, which we built as a foundation for smart textile production. It covers subjects such as automatic quality control systems and machine error detection. I was offered co-chairmanship as a result of this effort. Following the co-chairmanship process, which featured four candidates, I am continuing to serve as co-chairman. This project also provided us with the opportunity to enhance our ties with Germany.”
“I am the approval authority for smart production concerns.”
Tolga Yorulmaz emphasizes that this initiative has provided him with a clear vision. He emphasizes the need of having a sound understanding of European affairs when expressing this. “I am the approval authority for smart manufacturing matters.” “No one is present as a representation on behalf of his country,” Yorulmaz adds, emphasizing that the primary objective of the European units developed is to give solutions and services for individuals living in Europe to age gracefully, albeit technologically.
Yorulmaz says they have produced speedier and new methods in detecting margins of error because to the many technological breakthroughs they have developed in different units, indicating that they save time in a short time thanks to this unit, particularly in textiles. “In the future, my team and I will sign more projects.” For us, the environment and proper energy use are the most crucial issues. Yorulmaz adds that this unit he is involved in is a guide for them, saying, “It is one of our greatest aspirations to sign projects in which we will use these two vital themes together.”
“At the time, artificial intelligence is only used for probability calculations.”
Tolga Yorulmaz now offers his views to his coworkers, emphasizing the need of having a broad and diverse perspective. “They should learn to work in a variety of sectors,” Yorulmaz remarked. They should constantly have access to the appropriate platforms and tools to keep up with the latest advances. They should be open to any suggestions; technology is continuously evolving, therefore they should respond by anticipating the future rather than making advances based on past data.
Yorulmaz stated that the notion of the internet of things is not widely understood in Turkey, saying, “The internet of things is always about obtaining data from equipment… We also have a misunderstanding of artificial intelligence. After analyzing natural intelligence, an artificial intelligence arises. This artificial intelligence creates as humans let and desire. However, true artificial intelligence is the artificialization of the intelligence of natural elements, the life cycle, and the ecosystem, as well as the filtering of data. “At the present, however, only the probability calculation of the decision mechanism is being performed,” he explains.
“We are a society that values innovation and growth.”
“I don’t think we’ll have too much trouble adapting to new generation technologies,” says Tolga Yorulmaz. We are a society that values innovation and growth. I am confident that there are businesses that can provide unique solutions within the constraints of the available options. There are numerous examples in our country of companies incorporating RPA and IoT into their operations; I am confident that this rate will rise rapidly.
