This function, available to premium customers, prevents annoying pauses.
YouTube has stated that it is testing a new function to provide a calming experience to its viewers. “Lock Screen” allows users to lock screens to avoid accidently interrupting a video by touching a button. Users can activate this function by tapping the gear icon in the top left corner of the screen.
This new locking option, however, is only available to a limited number of Premium customers on Android and iOS devices. Users will have till July 30 to test the functionality. Users can check the YouTube homepage to see if they have been invited.
At the same time, YouTube is doing more testing. These studies include limiting the usage of ad blocks by informing viewers that if they disable the ad blocker, the video player will be banned after three videos. The company is also considering launching an online gaming service that would allow customers to play games via the YouTube website or app.
More advancements are predicted once these breakthroughs reach users. First, it is critical to assess the feedback of consumers who are able to use this feature and then identify any flaws.
