Echo Frames glasses will come in five new styles with a choice of non-prescription, sunglasses or blue light lenses.
The new Amazon Echo Frames glasses were unveiled the other day as part of Amazon’s Fall Devices & Services event. The next generation of smart glasses comes with Alexa. They also offer long battery life and improved sound quality.
Echo Frames glasses will be available starting at $269.99. They will come in five new styles with a choice of non-prescription, sunglasses or blue light lenses. The new Echo Frames frames are lightweight and 15% thinner for comfortable all-day wear. They also feature improved battery life, providing up to six hours of uninterrupted media playback or talk time on a full charge.

The audio architecture has been redesigned with new purpose-built speakers that deliver three times more bass than the previous generation and more accurately direct sound to your ears while minimizing external noise. Echo Frames also feature upgraded speech processing technology that improves Alexa’s performance. Amazon claims this enables ten times better recognition in loud or windy conditions than the previous generation.
For the more fashionable, Amazon has also partnered with Carrera Eyewear to create a new line of smart glasses that combine Alexa’s smart features with premium eyewear frame styles. The collection includes two new frame designs – the Carrera Cruiser and Carrera Sprinter – that blend Carrera’s iconic style with the power of Alexa. When not in use, Carrera Smart Glasses allow you to stay connected with technology and get help with everyday tasks in a way that fits your lifestyle.

As part of its commitment to customer privacy, Amazon says its Echo devices include multiple layers of privacy controls. Echo devices have built-in camera covers, a microphone on/off switch, and the microphones on Echo Frames and Carrera Smart Glasses can be turned off with a double button press. Users have full control over their audio recordings and can view, listen or delete them at any time.
In addition to the usual Alexa features found on all Echo devices, both smart glasses will come with premium features such as the ability to seamlessly connect and switch between two audio sources, start a playlist with the press of a button, notification filtering and an “Alexa, find my smart glasses” feature in case you lose your glasses. The new Echo Frames glasses will be available starting at $269.99. The new Carrera Smart Glasses will cost $389.99.
