Hubble Network Makes History with Space Bluetooth!

This technology achievement highlights the future growth and impact of the Hubble Network, offering huge potential in the IoT industry.

Hubble Network, a Seattle-based technology business, has made history as the first company to establish direct Bluetooth connectivity via satellite. This technological achievement paves the way for the global connectivity of millions of devices.

SpaceX Collaboration and Milestone Achievement

In March, Hubble placed its first two satellites into orbit as part of SpaceX‘s Transporter-10 mission. Since then, the company has received messages from the satellites’ 3.5mm Bluetooth chips, even from 600 kilometers away.

Potential Applications of Hubble Network and Industry Focus

Alex Haro, CEO of Hubble Network, emphasized the vast potential of Bluetooth devices in space. Furthermore, he stated that the company’s technology could used in applications like logistics, cattle tracking, smart pet collars, and children’s GPS watches. “We will focus on industries that require daily network coverage, such as remote asset tracking, as well as those needing frequent updates, such as soil monitoring, and use cases requiring continuous coverage, like fall monitoring for the elderly,” said Haro.

Founders and Vision for IoT Revolution

Hubble was founded by Alex Haro, co-founder of Life360, in collaboration with Ben Wild, founder of Iotera, and aerospace engineer John Kim. Haro initially thought it was impossible to connect a Bluetooth chip to a satellite, but he pioneered this technological accomplishment. The startup aims to revolutionize the IoT sector with a low-cost, low-power global connection solution for Bluetooth-enabled devices. Hubble’s participation in Y Combinator’s Winter 2022 cohort and a $20 million Series A investment in March 2023 support this novel approach.

Innovations in Space and Expansion Plans

Hubble’s space innovations include a patent for a phased array antenna that can be installed on small satellites. These antennas allow Bluetooth chips to communicate over long distances while solving Doppler issues. The company will expand further by launching a third satellite during SpaceX’s Transporter-11 mission this summer and a fourth satellite on Transporter-13. In the fourth quarter of 2025 or early 2026, Hubble plans to launch 32 satellites concurrently, creating a “production constellation” that will provide two to three hours of daily connectivity with a Hubble satellite from anywhere in the world.

Impact on the IoT Industry and Future Growth

This technological achievement offers enormous potential for the IoT industry, highlighting the future expansion and impact of Hubble Network. These revolutionary advances in space and technology will continue shaping the future technological infrastructure, transforming both industry and everyday life.
