Voice and video calling feature came to X!

With this update, X continues to improve its platform by offering more communication options to its users.

Elon Musk announced that voice and video calling is now available on X. However, this feature is not yet available for all users. The company did not provide information on when the feature will be available to all users.

It is now possible to enable voice and video calls

With X’s new update, users will be able to enable voice and video calls. The “Enable Voice and Video Calling” switch in Settings allows users to turn the feature on and choose who to use it with. Options include only allowing calls from people in your address book, people you follow, verified users or all. To make a call to a user, you can make a voice or video call by selecting the phone icon in the top right corner of the screen.

Elon Musk, has long considered adding voice and video calls as part of his goal to make the platform the “app for everything”. Musk recently stated that this feature will be available on different platforms such as iOS, Android, Mac and PC in a “no phone number required” way.

Paid use and Premium subscription

Unfortunately, it is still not clear which users will be able to use X’s voice and video calls. There is no official statement from X yet. Musk also stated that he is considering charging an annual fee to all users who want to use the platform. So much so that it has already started charging users in New Zealand and the Philippines a fee of 1 dollar a year.

With this update, X continues to improve its platform by offering more communication options to its users. The voice and video calling feature increases interaction between users, taking X’s “app for everything” vision one step further.
